According to the latest update from the Windows Store, you can now call your friends and family using WhatsApp for free, even if they’re in another country. WhatsApp calls use your phone’s Internet connection rather than your cellular plan’s voice minutes. Furthermore, according to the listing by WhatsApp, they warn that you cannot access 911 or any other emergency call lines from the platform. However, the voice call update is available only for Windows Phone 8 or higher. Another update that came with this new version of WhatsApp is the ability to now send audio files. Despite backlash from WhatsApp users especially in Africa about the quality of the voice calls, the social messaging giant is pushing boundaries of enabling communication for cheap (or even free, depending on your data bundles) as along as you have an internet connection.
