Airtel Uganda Managing Director, Mr. Tom Gutjahr is quoted saying; Airtel Money allows it’s clients to send money across networks, pay utility bills, top up your airtime or mobile data and withdraw money from an Airtel Money agent or ATM. Airtel Money subscribers are estimated at 3.4M with over 12,000 agents country wide. Airtel Uganda has been aggressive on the mobile money front with numerous campaigns and innovations to that effect. Being the 2nd biggest mobile money player in the market after MTN Uganda, Airtel Uganda seems determined to grow its mobile money subscriber base. A bigger agent network will definitely ensure easier accessibility to Airtel Money and this is the goal of increasing their agents. We also found out that Airtel is implementing the kiosks in most of their countries of operation in Africa.
